Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive in Beijing
Your guide greets you on arrival at the airport or railway station and transfers you to your city-center hotel. Settle in and rest after your journey, with the rest of the day free at leisure.
Imperial Beijing & hutongs
Stand in vast Tiananmen Square before entering the Forbidden City, where 600 years of Ming and Qing history unfold across grand halls and courtyards. Climb Jingshan Hill for a sweeping view over the palace rooftops, then wander old hutong lanes to see courtyard life up close.
Temple of Heaven & Mutianyu
Start early at the Temple of Heaven, where locals practice tai chi and play games in the morning air. Drive to Mutianyu, a scenic stretch of the Great Wall with fewer crowds, and walk or ride the cable car along the ramparts. Finish the day with a classic Beijing duck dinner.
Summer Palace · train to Xi’an
Explore the Summer Palace, the imperial garden of lakes, bridges and painted corridors beside Kunming Lake. In the afternoon, board the high-speed train to Xi’an and watch the countryside fly past at around 300 km/h.
Terracotta Warriors & Tang Xi’an
Come face to face with the Terracotta Army, thousands of life-size warriors standing guard for over 2,000 years. A hands-on Qin culture activity brings the history to life, before you continue to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a landmark of Tang-dynasty Buddhism.
City Wall & Muslim Quarter · fly to Shanghai
Walk or cycle along the top of the ancient Xi’an City Wall, the best-preserved city wall in China. Then dive into the lively Muslim Quarter, a food street of kebabs, noodles and sweets. Enjoy a free afternoon before the evening flight to Shanghai.
Shanghai past and future
Wander the classical pavilions of Yu Garden, then walk the full length of the Bund with its colonial-era riverfront buildings. Cross to Lujiazui for the futuristic skyline of towers, and end the day with a Huangpu River night cruise as the city lights come on.
Shanghai local life
Stroll Wukang Road and the leafy lanes of the former French Concession, where cafés and boutiques fill century-old villas. Visit Xintiandi’s renovated shikumen lanes, then take the rest of the day for shopping or a quiet café.
Depart Shanghai
After breakfast at the hotel, your private transfer takes you to the airport or railway station, marking the end of your Golden Triangle journey. We wish you a smooth trip home and hope to welcome you back to China again.
