Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Qingdao

Route: Qingdao Airport → Tsingtao Beer Museum → Zhanqiao Pier → Badaguan

Arrive at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport or a designated railway station, where your private driver and English-speaking guide will warmly welcome you. After a smooth transfer to the city, begin your Shandong journey at the Tsingtao Beer Museum, housed in the historic 1903 brewery. Walk through the old brewing halls, trace over a century of beer-making history, and enjoy a fresh draught beer tasting at the source. Continue to Zhanqiao Pier, Qingdao's most iconic landmark stretching into the bay, perfect for photos of the coastline and city skyline. Then explore Badaguan Scenic Area, famous for its tree-lined streets and historic villas in various European architectural styles. Your guide will share stories of Qingdao's unique blend of Chinese and German heritage. In the evening, check in to your Qingdao hotel and rest. Morning arrival is recommended so you can enjoy the full sightseeing program; for late-arriving guests, the itinerary will be adjusted according to the actual flight or train schedule.

Day 2

Mount Laoshan & Transfer to Weihai

Route: Laoshan Taiqing → Weihai

After breakfast and hotel check-out, travel to Mount Laoshan, one of China's most celebrated Taoist mountains rising directly from the sea. Focus today's visit on the Taiqing Scenic Area, where ancient Taoist temples nestle among pines and granite peaks overlook the ocean. Your guide will explain the mountain's Taoist heritage as you walk quiet stone paths between temples and viewpoints, taking in the unique mountain-and-sea landscape. Required scenic-area shuttle transportation is included. After lunch, transfer by private vehicle to Weihai, a clean coastal city known for its parks and waterfront. Upon arrival, check in to your Weihai hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening. Note: this day concentrates on the Taiqing area; the Yangkou area and its cable car are not part of the standard itinerary. The afternoon includes intercity travel, so the pace is unhurried.

Day 3

Weihai Coastal Heritage

Route: Liu Gong Island → Chengshantou → Weihai Beach

After breakfast, take the ferry to Liu Gong Island, a site of great significance in China's modern naval and maritime history. Explore the island's historical attractions, museums, and coastal scenery at a comfortable pace with your guide's commentary. In the afternoon, visit Chengshantou Scenic Area, famous for its dramatic coastal cliffs, sea stacks, and panoramic ocean views — a photographer's favorite. If time and daylight allow, stop at Weihai International Beach for a relaxing seaside walk. Return to your Weihai hotel in the evening. This is a relatively full touring day combining island and coastal sights. Please note that the Liu Gong Island ferry schedule may be affected by weather and sea conditions; if operational conditions prevent a full visit, the itinerary will be adjusted with your agreement. The beach visit is time-permitting rather than a guaranteed lengthy stop.

Day 4

Yantai History, Wine Culture & Penglai

Route: Yantai Hill → Changyu Wine Museum → Penglai Pavilion

After breakfast and check-out, drive from Weihai to Yantai. Begin at Yantai Hill Scenic Area, exploring its historic architecture including old consular buildings along the shore, with lovely harbor views. Then visit the Changyu Wine Culture Museum, located at the birthplace of China's modern wine industry. Discover the fascinating history of Chinese winemaking and enjoy a wine tasting experience (subject to the confirmed supplier package and applicable age requirements). Continue to Penglai and visit the celebrated Penglai Pavilion, renowned for its traditional Chinese architecture and maritime legends of the fairy isles. This is a proper scenic visit, not merely a photo stop. In the evening, check in to your Penglai hotel. Museum opening hours and the driving schedule will be confirmed before your booking.

Day 5

Penglai to Weifang: Kite & Folk Arts

Route: Weifang Kite Museum → Yangjiabu → Shihu Garden

After breakfast and check-out, travel by private vehicle from Penglai to Weifang, a city world-famous for its kite-making traditions. Visit the Weifang World Kite Museum to learn about the history of Chinese kite-making and the city's international kite culture. Then explore Yangjiabu Folk Culture Park, known for traditional folk arts including exquisite kite craftsmanship and woodblock New Year prints — you may have the chance to see artisans at work. Finish at Shihu Garden, a historic classical Chinese garden offering a peaceful contrast to the day's cultural discoveries. Check in to your Weifang hotel in the evening. This day includes a substantial intercity transfer. A hands-on kite-making or woodblock-printing workshop can be arranged subject to advance booking. Museum opening days will be confirmed.

Day 6

Weifang, Zibo & Qufu

Route: Qi Culture Museum → Ancient Chariots Museum → Qufu

After breakfast and check-out, travel to Zibo, once the capital of the powerful ancient State of Qi. Visit the Qi Culture Museum to learn about the history, philosophy, and achievements of this influential ancient state. Continue to the China Ancient Chariots Museum, which traces the evolution of Chinese chariot-making and transportation culture through remarkable archaeological finds. After these cultural explorations, continue by private vehicle to Qufu, the hometown of Confucius. Check in to your Qufu hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening. This is a combined cultural touring and transfer day, offering deep insight into ancient Chinese civilization before tomorrow's Confucian heritage visits.

Day 7

Confucian Heritage & Tai'an

Route: Confucius Temple → Kong Mansion → Confucius Cemetery → Dai Temple

After breakfast and check-out, dedicate the morning to Qufu's Three Confucian Sites, the spiritual heart of Confucian culture. Visit the vast Confucius Temple with its grand halls and stone steles, then the Kong Family Mansion where Confucius's descendants lived for generations, and finally the solemn Confucius Cemetery, the family's burial ground for over two thousand years. Allow sufficient time for meaningful guided visits at each site. In the afternoon, travel to Tai'an. If arrival time and opening hours permit, visit Dai Temple, the ancient temple complex at the foot of Mount Tai dedicated to the mountain god. Check in to your Tai'an hotel in the evening, ready for tomorrow's Mount Tai ascent.

Day 8

Mount Tai & Transfer to Jinan

Route: Tianwaicun → Shuttle → Cable Car → Summit → Jinan

After breakfast and check-out, transfer to Mount Tai, China's most sacred mountain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Follow the recommended standard route: start at the Tianwaicun visitor area, take the scenic shuttle bus to Zhongtianmen (Mid-Heaven Gate), then ride the cable car toward the summit area. Explore Nantianmen (South Heaven Gate), the lively Tianjie (Heavenly Street), Bixia Temple, and finally the Jade Emperor Peak at the summit. Descend using the return cable car and shuttle services. Standard inclusions cover the Mount Tai admission ticket, round-trip scenic shuttle, and round-trip cable car. This program uses cable-car assistance rather than a full on-foot climb. After the mountain visit, transfer to Jinan and check in to your hotel. Cable car operations may be affected by weather; the summit visit will be adapted to conditions.

Day 9

Jinan Springs & Departure

Route: Black Tiger Spring → Baotu Spring → Daming Lake → Departure

After breakfast and check-out, explore Jinan, the 'City of Springs,' as departure time permits. Visit Black Tiger Spring with its famous roaring water outlets, then Baotu Spring, Jinan's most celebrated spring, where crystal-clear water bubbles up year-round. Stroll around nearby Daming Lake and soak in the traditional city atmosphere. Your guide will then transfer you to Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport or the designated railway station, bringing your 9-day Shandong journey to a close. The full sightseeing program suits guests with sufficiently late departures; for early flights or trains, the transfer takes priority and sightseeing will be shortened accordingly.
